Kid / Adult Coach
Caleb
Celeb has been trained under Scott Case & Karl Jenson since the beginning and has a passion for folding clothes with people still inside them.
Caleb brings a VERY unorthodox yet articulate approach to modern Jiu Jitsu. He has committed a better part of his youth and young adult life to Grappling that has allowed him to develop a keen sense in dissecting movement and spreading the art.

Coach
Luke
First degree Black Belt under Chewy Ybarra.
Luke has over 20 years of Martial Arts experience including BJJ, Kickboxing, and Boxing. Luke believes Martial Arts should be for self-defense first, and sport second. He specializes in “Old man BJJ”, with infancies on position and technique over youth and athleticism, employing the K.I.S.S principle, and modifying moves to work with injuries and inflexible bodies. The many years of training has instilled in Luke that teaching must be appropriate to the level, ability, and interest of the students, and that key concepts must be explained in more than one way so that visual, hands-on and sensory learners all fully understand how to apply the technique.
Join Luke at MTS to discover the transformative power of training with skilled instructors who are dedicated to helping you unleash your full potential.
Experience the incredible journey of self-discovery and personal growth that awaits you on the mats at this super friendly martial arts school.

Coach
Matt
Matt Davis began his martial arts journey in Oakhurst, CA, where he first immersed himself in karate at the age of 21. His passion for the art quickly evolved into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), which he began practicing in 2012 after relocating to Sonora, CA. Under the guidance of Luke Bunnell and Scott Case, Matt dedicated himself to BJJ and kickboxing, accumulating over 15 years of experience.
As a coach, Matt is known for his personalized approach, tailoring his training to the individual's strengths and abilities. When teaching, he focuses on building a solid foundation for beginners while encouraging advanced students to think strategically. For competition preparation, he stresses setting realistic goals, refining skills, and mentally gearing up for the challenges ahead. He also prioritizes injury management and recovery, advocating for adaptive training and active observation during periods of injury.

Mental toughness is central to Matt's philosophy, both for himself and his students. He believes that a strong mind is more crucial than physical strength in BJJ. He advises newcomers to embrace discomfort - “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”.
Balancing BJJ with other life aspects has been vital for Matt, who finds that prioritizing the sport has enhanced both his mental and physical well-being. He advocates for flexibility and positional leverage over sheer strength, emphasizing calmness and confidence in handling life's challenges.

Among his most memorable BJJ moments, Matt treasures receiving his blue belt, a significant milestone that validated his hard work. He finds joy in witnessing his students' growth and competition successes.

For those passionate about BJJ, Matt offers simple advice: "Keep training, snap wings, and choke necks."
